After upgrading an Arch system to the latest after 2-3 weeks, firefox and gnome-control-center segfaults. The upgrade contained nothing obviously wrong or suspicious (no core libs, no glibc, etc). In an hour I did not yet find any other apps misbehaving, so it's not like the whole system got completely wrong after the update..
What I tried to hunt down this issue:
- checked if they work for root (no)
- check if they work for a brand new user (no)
- strace the start of both apps and see if I find anything suspicious (no)
- grep the strace logs for "open" and diff the results to see what they have in common, to narrow down the problem (did not find anything which would have helped)
Please help me out how to find the library (or package) which gone wrong on this system.. thanks!

Logic clearly dictates that the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

It's a haswell CPU - luckily
The issue got solved meanwhile a couple of hours ago - what I did was to grep all dependencies of firefox and reinstall them with pacman. Appearently this resolved the situation for now..
