The PyMySQL package seems to be only in AUR and officially only MySQLDb is supported as the MySQL connector for Python. I wonder are there some reasons that PyMySQL which has numerous advantages over MySQLDb and is actively developed is not in official repos?

Most likely because nothing in the repos needs it. 16 votes in 2 years doesn't indicate that it really needs to be moved.

I noticed the small number of votes too and just reconed that a major DB connector for a major language is something what is used by many. Seems that people just install it with pip.
