[SOLVED] Steam controller works on desktop, not in big picture mode

So close to working! When I plug the controller in, if steam is running, I get mouse emulation and haptic feedback on my normal desktop. But in big-picture mode, it goes away! I can still navigate the menu with the thumb-stick and use the buttons, but I can no longer move the cursor or click with the touchpad. When I alt-tab out, sure enough, I can move my cursor with the controller again.

Anybody have any ideas about why I lose mouse emulation?

Pretty sure that's supposed to happen. BPM is designed to be used by traditional controller input, not mouse. Do you get cursor control back if you enter the web browser?

Have you followed the Gamepad archwiki page? You need to create a udev rule for it to work as explained here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ga … Controller - also the uinput module apparently needs to be activated as well....

Re: [SOLVED] Steam controller works on desktop, not in big picture mode

WorMzy is correct. When I first plugged it in, I was using my steam-link. While streaming I got a cursor in BPM. I have some other issues with streaming, and I decided to get the controller working by itself on the host first, but expected the wrong behaviour!

Thanks for the quick replies guys! onto the next issue!

Re: [SOLVED] Steam controller works on desktop, not in big picture mode

Note that the option to modify the controller's behaviour in big picture mode (and web browsing mode) is in the works, according to the latest steam beta client settings menu, so you may be able to enable the cursor if you prefer it.
