[Request] Quality Virtual Desktop

Hi to everyone:

Could anyone package this?: Quality Virtual Destop big_smile

QVD (Quality Virtual Desktop) is a GNU/Linux focused VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure). What does it means?, means that the desktops delivered to the clients are GNU/Linux desktops. These desktops are virtualized by KVM (Linux kernel virtual machine), and intend to be a fully integrated solution, what involves that all the components are fully integrated.

QVD is written in Perl and it runs on GNU/Linux OS. As the delivery protocol is Nx, the user desktop runs as a remote X11 session even across slow or low-bandwidth connections. It’s possible to run the client on Windows and GNU/Linux platforms or via Thin Clients.

More info here

A lot of thanks smile

Hi Ravenman,
Are you still looking waiting for this? Once I learn how to do this manually, How far have you gotten with installing QVD server and client manually? I will try to package it for Arch Linux as I think QVD is a great opensource VDI. Apart from their website, I could not find much 3rd party online documentation. Thanks.

Hi Kso,

Yes, I am. I continue waiting until this package into AUR. It would be great that you did. I will be awaiting.

A lot of thanks by your interest.

Re: [Request] Quality Virtual Desktop

Hi Raveman, I will be pulling out of trying to package QVD for Arch Linux. My reasons:

1. QVD requires nx-libs with patches applied for NXTransCleanupForReconnect() (provided by X2Go).
http://bugs.x2go.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=865

2. There are patches for debian included on nx-libs git repository. At least nx-libs/debian/patches/0400_nxcomp-version.full+lite.patch is needed for NXVersion() required by QVD (provided by X2Go.)
git://code.x2go.org/nx-libs.git

3. QVD from git also has their own patches applied to nx-libs in theqvd/nx
https://github.com/theqvd/theqvd

4. nx-libs depends on X11 libraries that are different from the Arch Linux ones, I do not want to break anybodies Arch system.

5. I think this is best left to someone more skilled than me or the QVD developers themselves for such a complicated patching requirement. I think it is better not to use something than to use something which I could patch and build successfully, but that could be logically broken.

Apologies for the failed build. Thanks.
