[Solved] Pacman mirrors - new mirrors instaled as mirrorlist.pacnew

Yesterday i did manual update and I saw that new mirrors have been installed as /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew. Then I compared the content of both I found that the new package has quite more mirrors but non of them enabled by default.

1. What should i do with it (new mirrorlist)?
- Should I merge both but remove duplicates?
- Should I replace the old with the new one?
- Should I ignore new mirrors?

2. Additionaly: is it okey if I enable a lot of mirrors or it is better to use just one (or a few) at a time?
- Also i want to know the negative and positive consequences of both.

I have briefly searched the forums but did not found similar topic.

Thank You in advance.

1. Merge the new mirrors in. Uncomment what you need.

2. I use a couple; other prefer more. Look at a tool like Reflector if you want to automate the selection of the best near you.

Thank you jasonwryan.

I'll mark this thread as solved.

I know this is solved but pacman also provides a tool for this called rankmirrors

$ rankmirrors --help
rankmirrors (pacman) v4.2.1

Ranks pacman mirrors by their connection and opening speed. Pacman mirror
files are located in /etc/pacman.d/. It can also rank one mirror if the URL is
provided.

Right oliver, that's the way I do it.

Now when I read the Pacman/Pacnew and Pacsave wiki page I see that the merging is clearly mentioned. Somehow I missed it yesterday, probably I was reading other pacman related content and missed this one.
