Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

I've tried getting FF aurora from aur https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/firefox-aurora/. The problem is that when I have multi process enabled, the tabs don't even load, they crash immediately, like this: http://i.imgur.com/ZY1kMMm.png. There are no crash reports at all: http://i.imgur.com/RH0w4Zf.png. When I tried asking on some FF forums, nobody seemed to have this issue, so I though it might be something in my Arch. I have a completely fresh profile, so there are no addons that might cause it.

This is the terminal output:

$ firefox-aurora -p
Please close browser and run mozplugger-update

The crash logs a line into a dmesg:

When I disable multi process, the whole thing starts working. I think the tame thing happens with nightly too.

What could be the cause?

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

I've just checked. It crashes every page that is outside the system about: pages. I can go to configs, etc, but not on the web.

plugin-container has an X flag, so it should be unpacked properly:

$ ls -l /opt/firefox-aurora/plugin-container
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 428848 Nov  8 19:57 /opt/firefox-aurora/plugin-container

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

IDK if it's really an AUR issue. Several ppl said they don't have this problem, so I though it was more like a problem on my system. That's why I created it in Apps'n'DEs.

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

It's an AUR issue if only because Fx Aurora isn't an official package.

How did you build the package? If not using a clean chroot, try building it in one. That would eliminate some of the uncontrolled variables (e.g. build environment, greedy build scripts).

You may also want to check out heftig's unofficial repo and see if his build has the same issues on your machine.

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

I don't think it builds anything. I think that the source of the package already contains nightly prebuilt browser.

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

Oh. It's an incorrectly named AUR package then, such packages should use the -bin suffix to make that clear.

Have you tried a clean Fx profile? If that doesn't help, then try a new user.

The only other thing I can think to check is your flash plugin settings (/etc/adobe/mms.cfg). You may also want to test freshplayerplugin as an alternative to flash.

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

Yeah, I've already tried clean profile. I don't have any sort of flash at all. I haven't tried a new user yet, though.

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

When the Firefox developers first introduced the multi-process feature (when the Aurora channel was around 39/40), this would happen to me, but now it doesn't happen at all with the current Aurora. I never managed to work out what was causing it though.

Things I would try are the "safe" option packaged with the current AUR Aurora package, a clean profile and building in a clean chroot.

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

It's not like it crashes often. It is more like it is crashed permanently. All the time. Aurora starts and it's already showing that tabs has crashed. Clicking on restore crashed tabs doesn't help at all and trying to navigate on the internet just straight immediately shows the crashed tab info. At this state, it's straight up 100% unusable.

Safe mode didn't help. I've tried creating a fresh user. Didn't help either.

I've also tried i3 to make sure it's not caused by something in Plasma, and nope. Problem persists in both Plasma and in i3.

Re: Firefox aurora immediately crashes tabs

I will say now that I'm using the old firefox-developer PKGBUILD, updated to build with the current version and gtk3 dependencies instead of GTK2...
