DWSIM & Compiling With Mono

I'm trying to compile and run DWSIM http://sourceforge.net/projects/dwsim/ but it looks like it was written as a project for Visual Studio. I know there are Linux binaries available for download on the site as well but I would like to compile and package it myself. I did some googling but I'm still not really sure how to go about converting a VS project to something that I can get to compile for Arch. Do I need to write my own makefile or is there something I can use to generate one for instance? Some pointers would be appreciated
