After the updates to freetype2 & harfbuzz over the weekend, the software "Eagle" (PCB CAD) crashes with this kind of thing (it varies slightly):

A downgrade of both (and then a reboot and font cache rebuild if that makes any difference) cures the problem.
I'm hesitant to file a bug report as I don't yet know exactly what is causing this (i.e. upstream/packaging/something config-related that I have set)
Also half expecting "not Arch problem WONTFIX"... but I thought I'd post anyway in case it's affecting other software. Aside from Firefox this is the only other "heavy" application that I've ran since the update.
Is anyone else having trouble with this?

I'm having this problem, too. I downgraded freetype2 and harfbuzz (and associated lib32s and such), rebuilt fonts, and rebooted but am still having the same issue. What are your eagle/harfbuzz/freetype versions?

It's still not completely fixed as it happens, I just haven't had time to look into it any further and I don't know what else changed (could be as my library went over some size etc)
It only occurs with the part "preview" window, and no other part of the program. Nothing else I've noticed yet has done the same, and the library works fine on the same version of Eagle (for windows). I cheated and added the part in windows, and then opened the schematic and continued on linux!

Strange. I'm having the problem with the schematic open. There is some odd behavior with my WM (tiling) when it happens. If I open Eagle on its own, then open the schematic, it immediately crashes. If I open up another window first, then open up Eagle (making the Eagle config window half-screen), THEN open the schematic, it is fine until I try to move or change or fullscreen the schematic window.
It's hard for me to say what's causing it, but I'm going to try and figure it out if I get a chance.

I am seeing the same crashes with Eagle.
Eagle crashes with core dump and following message:

Seems that the schematic file (foo.sch) can eventually become corrupt enough to cause crash just by opening. No crash when a new schematic file is created, but it eventually gets corrupted too. Not sure what libc-2.22.so has to do with it. Incompatibilities in latest updates is plausible given this problem did not exist before. Zooming with mouse wheel has also caused crash. Wish I could read the coredumps.
