Re: glest

It's impossible to build it.
Glest-data depends on glest, and glest depends on glest-data :-(

Re: glest

dude just change the PKGBUILD take off all the deps if you want to. it isn't that hard. you could always install them at the same time.

one person told me that glest-data needs to depend on glest. i thought that made since considering flightgear and flightgear-data depend on each other. now somebody is telling me glest shouldn't depend on glest-data?!!! of course it depends on glest data!

help me understand what you mean.

Re: glest

You cant compile one with out the other. But that means that you have to compile them both at the same time.

Not a biggie though because u just take out the deps in one of them and compile and install that one first.

Re: glest

or just do makepkg -d to ignore deps.

but err yeah, circulatory deps are bad.

Re: glest

IMHO data should depend on application, not opposite way
so one should install glest first, then glest-data
why? because one may have problems with installing application (missing dependences), and installing data is easy, but takes more time to download

Re: glest

if i did make one depend on the other it would be glest on glest-data. if you watned to get rid of the game you would remove glest. if you do a recursive remove it will also remove glest-data. that's just what makes since to me. idealy these would be in a repo and they would install at the same time. since they aren't i guess i'll just do glest depending on glest data.

i agree. with local abs packages circulatory deps are bad. i would say simply because of the fuss they cause.

glest-data 2.0 just came out. what's the vote. dep on each other or not. i kinda like the makepkg -d idea too. plz let me know how u want the deps.
