Update: Changing my DM to SDDM seemed to do the trick. It's not quite as shiny as GDM was but I'll live, and I bet I can make it look a bit better with some configuration. Thanks for the help Vi0L0!
Any recommendations on how I can check if everything is working correctly?

Here's updated hd234k legacy driver with 4.2 and 4.3 kernel support: http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archl … src.tar.gz
The problem is ATM I don't have gfx to test it.
Can some hd234k gfx user help me?
Except this package you have to install gcc49 package, which you will find on AUR (long compile time) or on the [catalyst] repo - direct links:
x86_64: http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archl … pkg.tar.xz
i686: http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archl … pkg.tar.xz
@TheProgramm3r:
normally I'm testing: desktop environment, unigine valley, games like warsow, steam games: dota2, csgo, metro last light, team fortrest 2, video acceleration through vaapi, opencl with samples from amdapp-sdk

Hey guys and @Vi0l0!
I've been following this thread and this other one https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=190236, regarding the AMD drivers for the mobile graphics cards 'Topaz' series (M260/M265).
A couple of months ago, when I installed (both the catalyst from Vi0l0 and the open source driver), it was just impossible to use, the performance was terrible, tearing was everywhere, etc etc.Does anybody know something regarding this?
Much appreciated!
Hello! Thank you @Vi0L0 for your work.
I have hybrid graphics with intel(R) HD Graphics 5500 (Broadwell GT2) and Topaz PRO [Radeon R5 M255].
I've installed catalyst-test from AUR and it begin to work.
I need to say that it is my first hardware with discrete video card. So i'm not good into configuring AMD Catalyst driver on Linux.
But for me driver on default configuration work bad. For example i have lags in HL2 in Steam which is 'flying' on intel drivers.. Also very poor performance in Metro 2033(but this maybe because weak hardware too). So maybe it needed extra configuration? Can anyone also share experience or give a advise in configuring it?
As result i come back to intel for some time.
Also several words about pxp_switch.
1) When i was using it i've sometimes encountered problems when shutdown/suspend(black screen). But this seems to be known problem. Typically need nomodest, but for hybrid we can't use it because intel driver need kms.
2) if switch to intel (script removes fglrx from catalyst.conf in /etc/modules-load) and make reboot fglrx loads anyway. So seems something other is loading it. What is it?
3) is logic of pxp_switch allows us switch to intel, reboot and forget about fglrx for several days? or when using pxp we are obligated to load fglrx at first?

So ok. I found answers on several questions by myself. Maybe for someone they will be useful.
I've tested all of this on my sisters laptop which also has hybrid intel&amd graphics, but it is 1,5 year older than mine. On default configuration driver work good. And Metro 2033 was playable.
As conclusion it would be true to say that amd catalyst drivers for Topaz series is crap for now.
2) i manually blacklisted fglrx and all went good, so @Vi0L0 maybe it is a good idea to add blacklisting of fglrx to pxp_switch script?
3) yes. this is possible.

Hi, Can I install xorg 1.18 update? or shoul I ignore that?
Offline
@bosyi:
should be done in the next catalyst update
@thedeli:
catalyst should not allow you to do this, at least not without forcing. As for now catalyst doesn't support xserver 1.18, for newcomers there's [xorg117] repo available.
Latelly there was some interesting news about AMD's ‘Boltzmann Initiative’[1], which among others brings easier translation of cuda source code. It refers to firepro cards but maybe it will be also available for `gamers` gpus. And they use Linux word more than one time . Hope that's not only slides and marketing BS.

They *actually* did a same day linux release of their crimson edition driver: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/d … nux+x86_64
Someone want to test whether they finally got better intel+amd hybrid GPU support?

They *actually* did a same day linux release of their crimson edition driver: http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/d … nux+x86_64
They don't even list Ubuntu 15.10 as supported. That is a bad sign.

Not sure if they updated list latelly but now it's on the list:
"Distributions supported:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Suite 7.2, 7.1, 7.0, 6.7, 6.6, 6.5
Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS, 14.04.2, 14.04.3, 15.04, 15.10
SUSE® Linux Enterprise 11 SP3, 12
OpenSuSE 13.1"
Don't have time to build right now (will do it after like 3 hrs), for now I only casted a glance and compared newest with 15.9. I can see there's no new files (but theres many changes within files). So this is in fact "good", old catalyst. Not sure if I should rename so many: packages, repo name, wiki - and all this only because of marketing reason... Huh... but guess I have too :-/ What if they will rename it once again? Maybe it's better to use fglrx? What do you guys think about it?
There's also one pretty important news: by the end of the year mirror rts-informatique.fr will be shut down. Emmanuel from RTS Informatique is starting new job, it impacts all his projects so this one also. I would like to thank him in the name of manys for all this time and support that he gave us! Take care mate! May the Universe bless you
Emmanuel has shared his configs and so now I'm thinking about bying some cheap VPS to fix this miss (and maybe also use it for other personal purposes like domain, e-mail). It would be good to this before end of the year but I'm not sure if I will find time to launch this server.

They either edited the page or you overlooked it but it's there now:
Distributions supported:
• Red Hat Enterprise Linux Suite 7.2, 7.1, 7.0, 6.7, 6.6, 6.5
• Ubuntu 12.04.4 LTS, 14.04.2, 14.04.3, 15.04, 15.10
• SUSE® Linux Enterprise 11 SP3, 12
• OpenSuSE 13.1
Edit: I was too slow :c

No, I did not overlook that, but they did update their page.
Edit: Though their release notes don't make sense. Support up to Kernel 3.19, but supporting Ubuntu 15.10 with Kernel 4.2...

On Phoronix they say that they simply forgot to update release notes. 4.2 is supported.

What do you guys think about it?
I think let's keep the pkg named catalyst until at least new control center is released for Linux, and maybe a while after that.
BTW, thanks Violo for your hard work at keeping the pkgbuilds up to date!
I'm using the Mesa driver for now, but will give the new fglrx a try if it supports 4.3 and X 1.18. Downgrading them is too much of a hassle for me.

Also I don't know if this applies to Linux, but on the Windows side, the Crimson driver is the last one for non-GCN cards.

Keep the name Catalyst and just make a comment about the name that it is actually Crimson in the wiki.

ok, thanks guys, will leave catalyst for now then, and leave some note on the wiki.
Report from testing front:
- official support for up to 4.2 kernel, and we don't need gcc-4.9, plus thanks to community patches it's working on linux 4.3
- tty bug is fixed
- we still need patched cogl for GNOME/GDM - but it seems pretty normal...
- i can still see glitches when running video through vaapi on plasma desktop
- opengl performance is similar to 15.9, but ie. Steam's Bioshock Infinite was working poorly and now on 15.11 it's pretty good
- opencl seems fine
Time for update, catalyst-test @ AUR on first fire, repo later, maybe tomorrow
Edit: wait, not good, i686 fails on module compilation, have no time to fix it now, gotta go asleep, will upload src for x86_64 for now,
Source for x86_64 is here: http://mirror.rts-informatique.fr/archl … src.tar.gz
Edit2: seems fixed, catalyst-test @ AUR is up to date
Not sure about pre-GCN support, official website is saying that it does supports them. Cant test it, though. Can somone give me confirmation?
@TheDemz:
thanks for the tip, looks like ovh's offer is better: KVM OpenStack, 1 vCore 2,4 GHz, 2 GB RAM, SSD 10 GB, Local Raid 10, no bandwitch limit for less than $4. 4GB RAM + SSD 20GB for less than $8. Still searching though

So, I assume no support of X 1.18 yet?
Offline
I didn't have time yesterday to check this, yet still I wanted to release this new catalyst asap, so intentionally I left xserver check for today.
Even if release notes is wrong on this matter (as it says that it support up to xserver 1.17) it is so highly unlikely that it does support xserver 1.18 that it's hard to even say ... Neverthless I will check it today before repo update, which I hope will also happen today.
BTW: wth happened to phoronix forums? so many comments yet nothing usefull...

Sometimes I wonder if I'm crazy, or what. Guess I just was a bit bored, or am a masochist, or name your pick.... so I gave Crimson via catalyst-test-15.11 a shot.
Hybrid Graphics, no go.
With Xorg > 1.15, "failed to map MMIO register space!(EE) fglrx(0): MapMMIO failed"
With Xorg = 1.15, system temperature is 67°C while doing nothing. For comparison, it's 43°C with free drivers (DPM shuts off Radeon completely when there's nothing using it, yes, call that cheating, but ~70°C is a ridiculous temperature for staring at screen admiring the wallpaper)
I mean, I hope I am not being unrealistically demanding, right?

hybrid?
Edit. Ah yes. Your config must be really unlucky, as there was a couple of guys here who claimed success on newer xserver revisions.
Ok, let's check how it's not working on xserver 1.18...
Edit: confirmed, it segfaults on 1.18
BTW. I must be lunatic then

What pisses me off more is that chrome is still glitching on plasma when desktop effects are enabled. Bug that I reported 4 months ago still is not fixed <sigh>...

Heres my plan:
1. move [catalyst] to [catalyst-stable] repo - the only difference at this time is that [catalyst] supports 4.2 and 4.3 kernels and is using gcc49
2. place crimson inside [catalyst] repo so it could stay there for testing purposes for some time (im testing x86_64 packages atm)
Edit: done, let's test it for at least a week
...
3. if its true that radeons 5 6 k were moved out of the supported list (edit: it is true, we already have confirmation) then move [catalyst-stable] to the new legacy repo called [catalyst-hd56k]
Edit: this will happen after crimson's tests so at least after a week
4. if there will be no problems with crimson move it to [catalyst-stable]
What do you think?

So i tested new driver on Topaz PRO [Radeon R5 M255] and can confirm better permanence in games. Metro 2033 runs more smoothly, HL2 also better, but still lags when try fast to look behind me in game.

I have a HD 6670 and it seems to function fine. There are no xorg errors logged. Nothing appears to be in my journal. The control centre runs. Minecraft behaves itself. However, I suppose to be safe I will avail myself of that new repo when it opens.
Thanks for your efforts.

I've added the xorg1.17 repository, how do I install xorg-server 1.17?
