Use conky to display notifications from libnotify

Hi there!

I'm using i3 with conky running in i3bar. I particularly like that everything I need to know is nicely displayed in the bottom 10 pixels of my screen, compact and efficient.
Well... almost everything. Notifications from libnotify tend to pop up exactly where I try to read something, distracting me so bad that I removed notification daemons. Works, but that way I don't get notifications at all (which isn't great either).

So now I'm looking at my much loved conky and wondering how I could get it to display my notifications as well. On Ubuntu, the wollowing article seems to help: http://askubuntu.com/questions/42275/di … s-in-conky But unfortunately, the indicated file ~/.cache/notify-osd.log doesn't exist on my arch machine, even if I install and run notify-osd.

Any ideas how to get conky to display results from libnotify?

Thanks in advance for any inspiration,
Kalsan

Re: Use conky to display notifications from libnotify

You'd need some notification daemon that outputs to either a file or command line output.
There are a few listed in wiki that are designed to be used with minimal setups: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/De … Standalone

for example statnot may be exactly what you need.
