Presonus Audiobox

Need some help. I've read the Wiki and even followed some posts on the forum here to get my audio working with my PreSouns Audio box under Arch, but am having issues. It works perfectly under Fedora so I'm trying to figure out why I can't get it working under Arch.

Thanks in advanced.

Re: Presonus Audiobox

Please provide more information: journals, lsusb, lsmod, aplay -l, etc What exactly did you try and which errors occurred?

Thanks for your reply. As you can see it shows up in my system. But when I select it in alsamixer as a the default card nothing plays. And I followed the instructions in the Alsa WIKI to set it as the default card and that didn't work either. It seems that my problem is that Card 1 and Card 2 are registering on the same bus and my system can't tell the difference between the two. I don't know. That's why I'm asking for help.

Setting the default card in alsamixer does imho set the default interface it controls, not for playing sound.

It seems that my problem is that Card 1 and Card 2 are registering on the same bus and my system can't tell the difference between the two.

Can you elaborate this assumption?

Can you try to play a soundfile on the device using "aplay -D"?

Re: Presonus Audiobox

[jonathan@gp0 Downloads]$ aplay -D Analog_Trip_-_Analog_Trip_-_Midnight_Summer_Dream__Original_Mix__-_Elektrik_Dreams_Music.mp3
ALSA lib pcm.c:2266:(snd_pcm_open_noupdate) Unknown PCM Analog_Trip_-_Analog_Trip_-_Midnight_Summer_Dream__Original_Mix__-_Elektrik_Dreams_Music.mp3
aplay: main:722: audio open error: No such file or directory

It gave me the following error. I guess I shouldn't say "Bus" I should say from the aplay output the Audiobox and the Internal Sound Card are occupying the same subprocess(?).

Re: Presonus Audiobox

you should be using

aplay -Dhw:1 $file

The Audiobox and the internal have no overlap, Audiobox is card 1  and the internal is card 2 that's the first delimiter you should look at. Subdevices are subdevices of the same card. What's weird here is that you have no card 0 which is likely the reason applications won't find your default device and hence no sound, have you looked into https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … sound_card ?

There are also chances that fedora did use pulseaudio by default, something you might want to look into as well if you don't want to bother with ALSA configuration https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio

Thanks for helping. I'll eventually get it figured out. When I do I'll be sure to post the solution.
