Supend to RAM failing

I have a desktop that I cant get to suspend. Its a (dual boot x 2 disks) and I have the BIOS set for S3, In Windows it works as expected, shutting off fans and such. In Arch it tried to go down, and even the logs look fine, but only goes bout half way... The display and USB are off but the machine is still just running. Hitting the power button does nothing, and the machine just hangs.

Im using systemd, the open source ATI driver, and dmcrypt. i tried both current and LTS kernels as well as pm-utils and every result was the same. Any feedback would be helpful as IDFK.. O.O

Re: Supend to RAM failing

Try turning off screensaver if its running and see if this issue goes away.

i just did a fresh install (partially because of this) and didnt have one installed yet.

I just booted to a CLI and (as root) ran 'systemctl suspend' (again, no X) and got the same thing...

I keep seeing that S2R is supposed to be pretty straight forward, that why IDK where I'm having and issue at? my setup inst THAT unusual...

Re: Supend to RAM failing

Probably not the same issue. I have a similar problem with suspending PC. In my case PC sometimes wakes up right after it's suspended. It happens because of the USB3 on my motherboard. I guess it's a problem with firmware for NEC chipset (Asrock 890GX E3). Maybe try to disable stuff through BIOS and see if it helps.

Re: Supend to RAM failing

I have usb 3.0 enabled, and it does not wake up after suspend. In modern UEFI bios there are few thing that are linked to usb: EHCI, xHCI and ehci/xhci hand-off.

Re: Supend to RAM failing

I found a very similar post in a Gentoo forum: https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-p-7 … 04324dedae

I have two 5770's in my desktop as well with the same MOBO.

I switched to the ATI Cataylst driver and blacklisted radeon.

I can not drop to S3 and resume is no time flat, however i just have to deal w/ some screen tearing instead... roll

Re: Supend to RAM failing

I felt bad posting on an old thread but, its not THAT old and it is relevant now.

Since the new Catalyst drivers and dropping support for Radeon cards I went back to the xf86-video-ati driver and ran into the same issue again.
After too much testing, i found to add

radeon.dpm=0

to my kernel line finally fixed my issue!
