It can't find libcanberra-gtk-module.so.
Do you have it?

Did you download the new version?

"VMware Workstation 12.1.0 build-3272444"

Re: [SOLVE] Can't run vmware 12 on Arch Linux

You can't download it from pacman because libcanberra-gtk-module.so is a file not a package.
You have to first search for which package contains that file and then install that package.

$ pkgfile libcanberra-gtk-module.so
extra/libcanberra
multilib/lib32-libcanberra

So you need to install the package "libcanberra" with pacman and that will provide that file.
Also make sure you have "ncurses5-compat-libs" installed from the AUR as that's necessary to run the VMWare installer.

Make sure you have that latest version of VMWare Workstation installed though as it was just released yesterday I believe and fixes some problems due to recent updates.

TheChickenMan already described that command well.  You can learn more by reading the wiki or the man page.

Please do your own research before asking others to recite information to you that is readily available.

WTF?

Please do not necrobump old threads especially solved ones.  Do not hijack them either, especially seeking help with other distros/OSs.

Lastly, I have no idea why you felt your comment should be directed at TheChickenMan.  He's not responsible for VMware (AFAIK), he's just a community member who tried to help.

Closed.
