How to get Intel high resolution video at 2560x1600

I have an nVidia GT 320 working fine with my 2560x1600 dual link DVI monitor. I'd like to switch over to Intel.

I have an Intel 6 series motherboard with DisplayPort, Celeron G530, and an active DisplayPort to Dual Link DVI port. xf86-intel-video is installed.

I boot and launch xfce. xfce starts in 1280x800 mode. I switch it over to 2560x1600 and the display comes up. The first hint there is a problem is that there are some sparkle pixels and flashing lines. I quit xfce, start it again to 1280x800, and all the modes have disappeared. 1280x800 is the only mode offered in the Display Settings. A reboot is required to get the modes back.

Does anyone have high resolution 2560x1600 working on Intel?

I have not tried UXA. I'd rather buy another nVidia and wait for SNA to mature.
