[Solved] usb keyboard and mouse need replugging to work at boot

Recently evertytime I boot I do not have any keyboard or mouse input (screen does not show any cursor) when I get to slim login. If I unplug and replug both (usb), then everything is fine.
Any suggestions as how to debug / correct this? Thank you!

Entire system up-to-date? What input driver?

Ah, upgrading the system corrected the problem. Last upgrade was 8 December. Sorry about that.
So that I can learn something else: where would I find which usb input driver I'm using? dmesg?
Thanks.

I should have specified xf86 input driver. There are two available in the repos, evdev and libinput. The xorg log should tell you which one you're using.
