Unable to login: SDDM does not show any session

Hi to all,
I am not able to login anymore because SDDM does not show any session and using another console I can see that sddm is searching for the /var/lib/sddm/.desktop file which does not exist.
I've tried to uninstall and reinstall sddm but the problem is still the same.
Can you help me, please?
Thank you,
Xwang

Re: Unable to login: SDDM does not show any session

You know you can login without SDDM, right?

Also, look through your logs, shell history to see what has changed. Paste your conf file if you can't get it working.

Re: Unable to login: SDDM does not show any session

I think its this https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Nodm  - all you do is enable the systemd service as mentioned on the wiki and you should then be able to login....

Re: Unable to login: SDDM does not show any session

First things first the .xinitrc should technically be created by you with something like exec cinnamon-session or what desktop you want to use, the sddm main config file is located at /etc/sddm.conf and all the .desktop files should be located in /usr/share/xsessions

Did you recently do a major update to the latest version? It might have been an old out-dated file system you were using....

Re: Unable to login: SDDM does not show any session

Out of curiosity can you look in the history command line, and see what's happening as well as the system log events its out of the ordinary that archlinux would do this since it hasn't happened to others also it may help to post it if you still have the /usr/bin as executables are placed in that system folder.

Whatever it is, you are responsible for it. Unless you post some more detail about your setup and what you have been doing, this is going nowhere...

Re: Unable to login: SDDM does not show any session

@jasonwryan - I happen to agree with you
@XWang - Further reading you need to speak in a civil manor saying certain comments as mentioned in #9 then please read the Forum Policies here https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Forum_etiquette

Also keep in mind that Arch Linux is a DIY (Do it Yourself) System only you have control over the OS - If an upgrade has caused the problem then report here https://bugs.archlinux.org/ - if an upgrade didn't cause the problem then its an issue which you've caused and it could be solvable but only in a civil manor.
