I recently fixed a laptop of mine that had been out of commission since last May. Now that I have it up and running again, it's time for me to try to update it for the first time since May 22nd. Does anybody have some general tips for updating something that's gone so long without any attention, other than "read the arch linux news and pray"?

Have a live image handy, read the Arch Linux news and pray.

Back the system up *before* you `Syu` ![]()
EDIT: Obvious, I know, but I tried that once on system that was a year without updating and I forgot to do that first...

You could also use https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Linux_Archive to upgrade in weekly snapshots.
