Surface Pro 3 Keyboard type cover not working

I installed arch linux via micro sd card, I had to use a USB keyboard to install it and still have to use a USB keyboard I installed xorg and openssh. I am connecting to my surface through my laptop now. The mouse works when i run startx and start gnome. All I've found is to shutdown and reboot the computer however that does nothing.
