[Solved] Plasma 5.5 / KF5: How can I add a widget to the desktop?

I'm testing a fresh, nearly clean installation of Plasma 5.5 / KF5 (not upgraded from KDE4).

I can add widgets to the taskbar using the list of installed widgets.
But how can I add widgets to the desktop? In KDE4, I used the right mouse button in an empty area of the desktop - but if I (right) click on a clean desktop in Plasma 5.5, nothing happens.

It is working for me: Right click on desktop -> "Add mini app" -> add app via drag & drop

If the right click doesn't work, something is messed up with your installation/settings.

you can move your ~./config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc to ~./config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc-old to get back a clean Desktop.
In this file the right click behavior is configured
