Lilo gives nonsensical RAID error

Okay, I'm stuck... You see, I'm testing out Reiser4, and I can't seem to copy and paste the necesssary stuff for a GRUB PKGBUILD while using Minimax, so I have to use Lilo. The problem is, running /sbin/lilo (with lilo.conf configured correctly) nets me this error message:

Fatal: raid_setup: stat("/dev/hda")

This makes no sense whatsoever, since I don't have any RAID arrays to speak of. I've looked around the web for this, and found tons of instances of people getting this error, but no solution, and in most cases it seems to afflict people who are indeed using RAID arrays. What gives? How do I get around this?

Alright, I did a reinstall and got LILO installed to the MBR, and the damned thing still doesn't work... Now, on boot, it says "Loading LILO", and then just prints out "99" a few dozen times and sits there - evidently, this would indicate an "invalid second stage index sector", whatever the hell that is. Can someone please help me out here?

Had the same fail in lilo some time back.

The solution to the problem involved an upgrade using 0.7.1 cd which solved a conflict in the use of Udev.  At the time I was running 0.7 vanilla.

This may give a clue as to a solution but other than that, my system has no raid.  This suggests that the fail is not raid connected but a "catch-all" for lilo failures not covered by known errors.

I had lanother case of lilo faill which required a reset of my usb2IDE device which solved the problem.

Thanks... I ended up giving up on it, because a) LILO is a pain in the ass, b)  you can't copy and paste text under Minimax due to some stupid problem with gpm, b) Minimax never fails to mount its ramdisk RO and won't let you remount it RW (probably a problem with the way I used grub-install on the USB stick but I can't be sure), c)  ABS doesn't work when chrooted because "build() couldn't be found in makepkg", and d) Reiser4 doesn't seem to perform well enough to warrant the PITA value of further effort to get it working.

If Reiser4 ever makes it into the mainline kernel I might give it a spin, but for now... screw it.
