[SOLVED] Removed pulseaudio and no longer have sound

I installed PulseAudio earlier today for use with Skype and then uninstalled it a few hours later. Since then, I have not touched any configuration files and somehow my sound no longer works. Music and videos play without throwing any error messages, but I do not hear anything. Any ideas as to how I can fix this or what could have caused it?

Edit: Reinstalling PulseAudio restores sound, but I do not want to use it.

Somehow the problem randomly fixed itself. I reinstalled PulseAudio to temporarily restore audio and removed it shortly after. I rebooted a few times and now alsa is working again.

What is very likely to be happening is the card initialization order isn't guaranteed unless configured and on one boot the card you want to use is correct on another boot the card you don't want to use is initialized first, you should look into https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ad … sound_card
