Re: [solved]kernel panic

It's not quite clear to me, is archlinux giving kernel panics, or just Antergos?  It sounds like it doesn't matter which distro is managing grub, you are just experiencing kernel panics in Antergos, correct?  If so, you'll have to ask on their forums.

Re: [solved]kernel panic

So, you have two disks.  One appears to be an EFI disk (sda) and uses gpt partitioning.  The other, (external ?)  drive uses msdos (MBR).
You seemed to indicate that Arch is installed on sda.  Are those really all ntfs partitions?  That is a bad way to fly.

Where are you booting from?  Where is Grub?  Is a single Grub installation configured to handle both drives, or do you have Grub on each disk and change the disk you boot from?
What do/does your Grub configuration files/file look like?
What reference documentation did you use during your installation?

Re: [solved]kernel panic

yes, I efi in sda but there is only windows 8.1-10, while arch and antergos of SDB in each partition is installed grub, to always work out, then I installed ubuntu and do that stuff, do you recommend to do?
thanks for the support
edit
during installation I installed grub in SDB, the uidd and fstab are right, as well as the uidd / boot / grub, however if you want to place all

Re: [solved]kernel panic

You are using the same initrd for both Arch and Antergos?  Seems like that is fraught with danger.

Where did you make this observation?

I assume the problem being rather this - within all of Arch's entries:

initrd /boot/intel-ucode.img

As you can see, there is no initrd / initramfs specified at all.
That somehow explains why always the 'other' OS is not working - the one whose entry is generated by os-prober, which seems to have a bug here.

Anyway, to solve this problem, it should be sufficient to manually edit grub.cfg and add the initramfs as it is in Antergos' entries.
Note that this would have to be repeated after each run of grub-mkconfig, so it might be worth to consider writing your grub.cfg by hand generally.

Re: [solved]kernel panic

First of all, assuming that you want to solve this from Arch, reinstall grub from within Arch (`grub-install').

Note that this would have to be repeated after each run of grub-mkconfig, so it might be worth to consider writing your grub.cfg by hand generally.

To simplify:
- In your grub.cfg, compare the initrd lines within Arch's and Antergos' lines.
- Modify the not working entry accordingly.
- Whenever you re-run grub-mkconfig, reapply the above.

Note, that you have to edit the grub.cfg that your currently installed instance of GRUB will access.
That is, if you followed my advice to reinstall GRUB from within Arch, you should be booted into Arch and then access /boot/grub/grub.cfg.

If you have problems with the language, there is also an Other Languages section in the forum.

You are right, they are using the same kernel.

menuentry 'Arch (on /dev/sdb6)' --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os $menuentry_id_option 'osprober-gnulinux-simple-e4cf514e-601a-43a6-aee4-d46b5fef2dac' {

So, no initrd and both are using the same kernel.  Ignoring the lack of an initrd (as you point out -- that won;t work),  things will go badly for the complementary OS after a kernel upgrade on on or the other.

Sorry, I missed the os-prober added Antergos entry.
However, since it is only an entry buried somewhere down in a submenu it is rather unlikely that it will ever be used.
Though it's still clearly wrong and at least unnecessary.

I can't really imagine this being the default behaviour of GRUB's os-prober script.
Hence it might be a good idea to also reinstall the grub package via pacman.

NOTE: We should not forget that this is Antergos' configuration file and thereby we can only assume Arch's being equivalent - because of the same symptoms.

Re: [solved]kernel panic

thank for support,i solved whit this stepts:
1) i cloning partitiones
2) remove extended partitions
3) created a primary partition
4) restored the clone, put arch on sdb1
5) entered chroot sdb1 and restore grub
6) once arch was started by arch, I created the second primary partition, sdb2
7)restore cloning antergos
8) entered chroot sdb2, removed gru2-theme-antergos and grub,and reinstall kernel(pacman -S linux)
9) restarted arch linux  and gave the following commands:
10) grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
started grub and antergos has started
riedit
I corrected the point 8
added install kernel(pacman -S linux)
