No sound after sleep/ soundcard changes ports/ GTX 980 display port

My mobo is a GA-Z87X-OC, UEFI booting with rEFInd, my sound comes over display port from my GTX 980.  After the computer wakes from sleep, sound doesn't play.  Once I reboot it's back though

No, that's on another HD; this is Arch with GTK2 Mate.  Another thing I noticed; sometime I have to change the port from HDMI to HDMI3 (I do not move the cable)
