Hi all,
I installed Archlinux on a HP Spectre 360 and had to set i915.modeset=0 to activate the internal screen on eDP1, else it would be blank but with working backlight. An external screen conected to HDMI1 worked independent of this parameter. After successful instalation I booted Archlinux without i915.modeset=0 and was left with the external screen only. I installed sddm and plasma-desktop and restarted with a working plasma desktop on the external screen. Suprisingly
xrandr --output eDP1 --off
xrandr --output eDP1 --mode 1920x1080
brought the internal screen to life and I have no idea why this is working.
Thus, I put the two lines of code in the Xsetup file of sddm to execute it if X starts. Unfortunately this works only if an external screen is connected which for a laptop is less than optimal.
Does anybody has a better workaround or a solution for my problem?
Thanks
Peter
I am using rEFInd to boot Arch and Windows10
I tried i915.preliminary_hw_support=1
I installed xf86-video-intel
