And the md5sum for kvalo's firmware-5.bin that should have worked is 9267889d49af0a8df89925a7b81b1054

I actually think the board.bin is causing the problem as using the wrong firmware-?.bin results in a firmware crash

Hi Jeremy,

there was an update of the firmware package (linux-firmware-20151207.bbe4917-1) earlier this week. Since then, I can actually see the device with 'ip link' and can connect to wifi networks without having to download extra files from kvalo or sumdog repo.
