After a recent kernel upgrade I found out the hard way that my fstab wasn't configured correctly. In order to create a proper fstab I tried genfstab but the command is not found.
Which package should contain genfstab?

It is not advised to run the genfstab script after the installation has finished.
There used to be a statement to that effect in the Beginner's Guide but it has been streamlined recently.
Write the lines yourself with reference to fstab(5) & mount(8)

Thanks! That is exactly what I did in the end. I ended up using the GPT labels instead of the filesystem labels.
Actually my knowledge of fstab is getting more and more old fasioned. I currently mention swap and boot only. As I have most other partitions in a ZFS there seems to be no need to mention the expicitly in fstab, they are mounted automagically. Also / and /tmp or /run/tmp seem no longer be needed in fstab. That is a step in the right direction but baffles me.
What is and what is no longer needed in fstab?

Please can you refrain from posting completely untrue and irrelevant information, especially in 5 year old solved threads.
