Audio setup : how to det up a mic in arch ?

i am using xfce with the alsa-mixer , when i turn up the  back mic port volume nothing is recorded off the mic . do i need special drivers  , if so then i have a onboard intel  audio chip set big_smile

i mean  i plugged in my mic and turned up the mic volume and when i try  to use my mic for skype or somthing my mic does not work but my mic is perfectly fine and working ( tested it with windows ) i am a noob . i don't know what to do

update : in audiomixer i checked capture , inputsource and enabled capture and my mic is working . Thanks  for the help smile
