Hi.
I bought new laptop few months ago. Using Dell Inspiron 7110 for four years with no any problems i totally forgot that some hardware can be problematic on Linux ![]()
I heard that ATI cards are less problematic on Linux now than ten years ago, so... Damn, I could buy something with NVIDIA.
Anyway this hardware works fast and stable as hell with Arch (some other distros tested as well). There is only one issue that I can't fix although fun with search engine took me hours.
Sometimes when I leave laptop for doing something in background (not much - playing music, downloading, receiving mails etc) screen is blanking for obvious reason. Mostly I just touch or press something and I can unlock it and work again. Once in a while screen remains black like there is no power supplied to it. In such case, if I have external screen connected (through VGA) it works. If I don't, I can't see anything. Computer still does its stuff and reacts (for example on CTRL+ALT+F2, CTRL+ALT+DELETE to reebot), but there is no way to get built-in screen back from power saving mode. I could be wrong, but I think that it happens in longer time after computer inactivity.
Same problem is when I use integrated Intel graphics adapter or Radeon (switched on firmware settings before boot).
I've found way to induce similar behaviour. It happens when I stop SDDM (or any other login manager) by stopping service. External screen (even connected after this 'accident') works fine.
Now hardware details

Also sometimes I have lots of
[i915]] *ERROR* The master control interrupt lied (SDE)!I read a little about, but not sure if it's related.
PS. I tried linux and linux-lts.
Have someone had similar problems? Some ideas?
Thank you for help in advice.

Bump and update.
It happens again. Using external screen I turned off and on again laptop screen (in KDE System Settings) and this worked again.
Someone?
Maybe I just set some keyboard shortcut to reset screen manually when this happens.
