I've changed my theme a little bit, so deleted the previous post.

Wanted a setup where I could completely eliminate window borders but still know which window was focused. So I utilized the dim-inactive command in Compton which achieved the desired effect. I'm sure there is plenty of room for performance improvement when it comes to that though, since that wasn't my focus at the time. Also considering not using gaps for workspaces other than my steam workspace. Now I just need to build my vim config since I just graduated from ignorance last week and I am definitely in love with how powerful it is.

Py3status can provide a taskbar module I think

Thanks for the tip. I'll keep that in mind if I want to change things, but I think I want to keep the bar pretty minimal for now.

Is anyone having issues with the new conky 1.10.0 within their i3bar?

If you use the 'if_running' variable in your configuration, it will only work with conky-git. There's a bug, so that may be your issue.
^ there's mine, click the image for the config. You'll probably have to change some of the options a bit but it should work without a hitch.

thanks so much, got my basic status working & now to try to get lemonbar+powerline working.
FYI if you have an nvidia gfx you can use native conky ${nvidia temp}

Share Tech. You can find it in the google fonts directory.
I'm using the Bohoomil Infinality repo though, so the font might look different on vanilla.

Its a light theme that I came up inspired in Arch/i3wm, I made one dark (first) too but light looks so polish I keep it.
Clean (yeh its a boring solid color ;) ):
Busy:
You can check more of my desktop (dark theme too): Desktop (xterm, ncmpcpp, conky/i3bar, i3 (Arch), firefox).
My dotfiles for xterm, i3 ... you can find on my git: ilynxphysicist git repository dotfiles.

Yes as bleach pointed out, that is ranger.
For image preview in ranger install w3m and in your ~/.config/ranger/rc.conf enable the following:
set draw_borders true
set preview_images true
I linked to my dotfiles where u can find that config file also.
