Hello,
I've searched a lot about the AptX codec support in Linux as I'm aiming to buy a new bluetooth headphones (Creative Labs WP-380 Wireless Bluetooth Headphones) and it needs that AptX codec to get the best sound quality ever. I only found one answer about that question here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/425333/h … ith-ubuntu and its solution to buy one of those sound transmitters which have native hardware-side AptX codec support and they act like sound-cards.
but, this is a little bit old answer, because BlueZ 5.21 version for Android indicates that there's a native support (without license) for AptX in BlueZ. I'm not sure about the android-specific things because they mentioned HandsFree profiles which isn't supported anymore by BlueZ: http://www.bluez.org/additional-feature … r-android/
it actually started from 5.20: http://www.bluez.org/release-of-bluez-5-20/
BTW, Bluetooth headset wiki page here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Bluetooth_headset mentions a tip about installing pulseaudio-git from aur to get Headset/Handsfree profiles work natively, is that right? can anyone points me to the version of pulseaudio which has added that support so I can watch updates of it? didn't they drop the support for the sake of ofono thing?
Thanks in Advance.

Hello,
did you get it to work since November?

I don't know anything about AptX. I've bought Create Hitz WP380 and it has a decent sound under Arch and Fedora which both use latest version of BlueZ and PulseAudio.
However, you might stumble upon some latency comes from time to time especially if have gone away your a computer for a long distance. PulseAudio doesn't sync up again until I switch the audio profile (BTW, HSF profile is working with PulseAudio 6 now).
I hope this might be helpful for you.
NOTE: My Bluetooth is version 4. My friends with version 2 and 2.1 faced various problems with A2DP bluetooth profie (because of transfer speed mostly).

@anassahmed Thanks for your reply. Sorry, for my late response. I kinda lost this thread. I've got it working with a new dongle form LogiLink (BT0015) on my PC. Probably have to install arch on my Raspberry Pi to get it to work, too. Just OSMC doesn't do the trick yet.

Did you get aptx working in Linux? Or is that still a no-go?

I too am curious to know if anyone has Apt-X working with PulseAudio in GNU/Linux.
I'm interested in a pair of Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless headphones which are on sale right now, but I'll probably pass them up if they sound bad because AptX cannot be made to work. I'm prepared to get a new dongle with AptX encoder support listed in the specifications such as the LogiLink BT0015 if necessary (and presumably it is).

I've just purchased these along with a BT dongle featuring the CSR A8510 A10 chipset and they sound fantastic together. The device is listed as High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink) in Pavucontrol FWIW.
No idea if aptX is actually being used though - I just went on the guidance here: http://www.jessebandersen.com/2012/05/l … vices.html

Well - it isn't using aptX, I've just done a packet capture and it's settling on SBC.
Still sounds amazing though so no idea how much of an advantage aptX even has these days...
