[Solved] Command Prompt Not Showing During Installation

I recently purchased a Dell XPS 13 9350 Signature Edition and I am attempting to install Arch. I can get it to boot into Arch, but when it logs into the root user for installation the screen goes blank. The backlight is on so I know something is going on, except I cannot see the command prompt or anything that is typed. Also, I can type commands like reboot and shutdown that work (I just cannot see what I am typing), so the login succeeded. I know the install medium is working because I checked it on my desktop and the prompt actually shows. Maybe it has to do with the resolution of the screen? I appreciate any assistance with this issue. Thank you!

Re: [Solved] Command Prompt Not Showing During Installation

Have you tried booting with the nomodeset kernel parameter?

Thank you Ziusudra! That was it. I am a noob when it comes to installing, in fact that was the first time I set a kernel parameter.

Looks like the GPU in that laptop is an Intel (you check the lspci command output to be sure.) You might what to read that wiki page and especially this troubleshooting bit.

Also please edit your original post in this thread and add [Solved] to the post title.
