4K laptop display with FHD external monitor

I recently bought a laptop with 4K display and Skylake generation processor/integrated graphics. I'm using Gnome as DE. I've blacklisted nouveau driver and used acpi_call to turn off Nvidia graphics.
Everything works ok so far, but I'm having issues with my external FHD monitor.
Automatic gnome scaling on laptop monitor works great. I'm using the suggested xrandr command to make everything in normal size on external monitor:

xrandr --output eDP1 --auto --output HDMI1 --auto --panning 3840x2160+3840+0 --scale 2x2 --right-of eDP1

The command works but everything gets really blurry on external monitor and more importantly performance on external monitor gets really bad (slow animations).
Does anyone have any experience with this?
