Re: Xorg will not start

You don't need X to copy text to a pastebin: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Li … in_clients

I didn't ask for your entire journal; I asked you to read the LightDM entries: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sy … emd_errors

As for courtesy; you have been shown plenty in this thread. Perhaps you might respond in kind by reading the wiki and learning how to address your own issues, rather than expecting the community to do it for you. Don't be a help vampire.

# edit: why is your journal full of SSDM entries? Have you enabled that as well?

Re: Xorg will not start

If you are using paste bins, please feel free to just provide the links to the bins.  We don't need the actual text to be posted here in that case.

Re: Xorg will not start

@jasonwryan I have been switching between SDDM and LightDM display managers, in case one of them works and the other doesn't. At the moment I'm using SDDM so here's its log http://paste2.org/vw6PIWWz. I have been using the ArchWiki all the way through this, where did you think I got the info on how to set NVIDIA and Nouveau up, as I mentioned in reply #10? Your pastebin Wiki link is not so helpful as I've been using pastebinit (also an idea I got the Wiki, how else do you think I managed to get this link http://paste2.org/y8I8AdBB which I hyperlinked to "here" in my first comment?) since before I started this post, well I was when I still had Wi-Fi on my Arch machine, now I have to use a USB to ferry the information from my Arch machine and the machine I'm accessing this forum through.

Re: Xorg will not start

You clearly haven't bothered to read the links I posted: good luck with your issue, whatever it is...

Re: Xorg will not start

Please post the output of:

systemctl status default.target display-manager
cat /proc/cmdline

Also, to clarify my earlier post in respect of KMS and NVIDIA drivers: if using nouveau, KMS is required; if using the proprietary NVIDIA drivers, KMS may have to be disabled with the parameters I posted.
