Any possible solutions to Intel 6300 wireless issues?

I have a ThinkPad X201 laptop with an Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 wireless card. Wireless generally works fairly well except when I SSH to another box in the house, and the connection becomes really sluggish, sometimes freezing for several seconds. It's really annoying. Researching the issue it seems there seem to be some bugs in the firmware which won't be fixed (https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=56581 around comment #80). Interestingly enough, using PuTTY on Windows works just fine, so the issue is not hardware or WIFI related.

I was wondering if other ThinkPad users have seen these types of issues and whether they were able to resolve them. Any help will be appreciated.

Re: Any possible solutions to Intel 6300 wireless issues?

Why do you think your issue is the same as the error mentioned in post 80 of that bug report discussion (which is, BTW, not what that bug report is actually about)?

I have two X200 laptops and have had several other thinkpads - I ssh into various machines from all of them frequently and have never had any wireless issues (except for the one which I accidentally cut the wireless antenna off of).
