Hey,
I only use a few AUR packages and I typically just install them manually rather than using yaourt or something. But it looks like I need a helper to keep those packages up to date. Or just check the page on the AUR and see if it's been updated and reinstall. Are there other options?
Thanks.

Do you download snapshots or use git to clone the package repos?

I download snapshots

Then it's either a helper or as you described. If you clone the repos with git, it's simply a matter of cd-ing to the cloned repo, issuing a "git pull" and running makepkg if there have been any changes.

Ok, thanks. I hadn't even heard of doing that before. I'll look into that.
edit: marked as solved.

With the update to Aurweb 4.2.0 you can now receive email notifications whenever a commit is pushed to an AUR package.

You can also use cower to notify yourself of an update. Not technically a helper since it doesn't build.

Thanks. I read a bit about cower and it seems kinda cool, I'm gonna check it out.
