Thunderbolt 3/USB 3.1 on Dell XPS 13 9350

I have a Dell XPS 13 9350 (late 2015) with a lovely new Thunderbolt 3/USB 3.1 Gen 2 C port Unfortunately the port doesn't work under arch I tested it with a USB C memory stick and it simply doesn't show up in lsusb. Turning the memory stick around to use it's A port works fine, and using the stick in windows with the USB C port also works. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this. I'm on kernel version 4.4-3 to get support for the WiFi chip, but it doesn't work on the stable 4.3 kernel either. Any help will be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!

EDIT: After some troubleshooting I've discovered that it's just hot plugging that doesn't work. If you boot the computer up with it already plugged in then it works just fine.

Turns out it's just my memory stick that won't hotplug. A USB C HDMI adapter works perfectly fine.
