[SOLVED] HDD parted v lsblk & system

I have a 500Gb HDD which parted correctly partitioned. However after formatting I checked the partition table with lsblk which showed the disk size to be 465.8Gb. The live system is also reporting the disk the same as lsblk, but parted is still reporting the correct size and partitioning. As you can see below even the first two partitions are different. Now what's showing on lsblk is a previous installation of arch. After I noticed this during installation I started gparted to see what it reported and it concurred with parted.

If someone could give me a hint as how to trouble-shoot this, it will be greatly appreciated.

500 GB = 500000 MB = 500000000 KB = 500000000000 B = 488281250 KiB = 476837 MiB = 465 GiB

#jasonwryan apologies, was only following directions on https://bbs.archlinux.org/help.php#img.

#frostschutz thank you for clearing that up for me. Old dog learning new tricks and looking silly.
