[SOLVED] USB Audio Codec

i have a behringer Xenyx Q502USB mixer and sound prefrences recognizes that there is an output there, but it doesn't recognize that there is an input.  Thanks for any help and since this is my first post i'm sorry if i violate any fourm rules

Solution: Pulseaudio recognized my microphone and for convenience sake I installed pavucontrols

Re: [SOLVED] USB Audio Codec

Please post more information about your setup, such as DE/WM etc. There is no global "Sound preferences" in Linux.

Re: [SOLVED] USB Audio Codec

Sorry, I'm using mate with LightDM, however I installed Gnome and it recognized that the USB mixer has a microphone.
As I'm a newb to Linux in general I have no idea what information I'm missing.

Re: [SOLVED] USB Audio Codec

run dmesg -w and plug in your device, post here the output it generates.

If you have pulseaudio, install pavucontrol and see if you can configure your inputs and outputs there.

Also check if nothing is muted in alsamixer -c0

You need to install alsa-utils for alsamixer.
