Boot error: Started update utmp about system runlevel changes

Can't run Arch after yesterday's full system upgrade.

Upgrade seems to go fine (only some messages regarding pacnew files), but after restarting the system is blocked before the display manager.

Last message produced is:

started update utmp about system runlevel changes

The system then freezes at such message.
(If I press the power button then the system stop freezing and start to shutdown).

Seems to be something like this:

https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=142568
[here solved symlinked /var/run and /run]

But that is a 2012 topic.
May the problem be the same of mine?

I had the same problem with but with Kali2.0. If you have NVIDIA GPU, check your Xorg logs. If you see "Segmentation fault at address 0x6f", this is the fix http://adonespitogo.com/articles/fixed- … tallation/

It's unlikely that the problem you encountered on your non-Arch OS is related to this problem from 2 years ago..

Closing.
