WARNING: The [kde-unstable] repo also contains Qt 5.6 rc currently, so be prepared for additional breakage.

You are right this time there are really quite a few bugs.

Manual session save is broken the k-menu entry doesn't do anything i had to call it using qdbusviewer and it doesn't save firefox for some reason.
My background is literally missing instead there is a the splash screen xD

Closing the session is messed up it takes about 30sec for the session to close.
On shutdown systemd always displays "A stop job is running for User Manager ..." after "[OK] Stopped session c4 of user ..."

Another thing the apps show on the version tab Qt 5.6 but compiled against 5.5.1 is that because of KF5?

This sounds like something is majorly broken on your system. Without any logs it's impossible to know what it is though.

I also have the shutdown issue on Plasma 5.5.4, there are posts about this. I may be a systemd 229 issue.

I don't think the shutdown issues are related to Plasma 5.6 beta. I had them already in 5.5.

Here are a few bugs I encountered so far :

- Sometimes a glitch appears on X (did not try on Wayland) : the right corner of the Plasma panel disappears. It comes back a few seconds later.
- the media player controls plasmoid in systray does not show up when a music or video player is launched and playing a media (tried with VLC, Cantata, Clementine). It says "No media played" even if a media is played.
- the new breeze-grub package is incomplete ? At boot Grub says some elements are missing and shows the old basic Grub screen

About shutdown issue - it's not related to Plasma or SDDM. We have many threads on BBS about it with different DM and DE. I's started with systemd 229, so it's possible that it's systemd related.

About Plasma 5.5.95. I've installed both: Qt5.6RC and Plasma 5.5.95, and my desktop is customized by myself (it's very important, because Plasma is very sensitive for bad quality of themes and so on).
Fisrt issue: in my opinion breeze is broken, but it's upstream's bug (because we have got it in breeze-git, too). Windows with Breeze theme frequently crashed and title bar disappears.
Second issue: Show Desktop plasmoid, when we put it on panel it will be disorganized (only Kickoff is visable).
Third issue: widgets related to qtquick.xmllistmodel cannot work anymore (i.e. plasma5-applets-weather-widget cannot connect with service).
Fourth, strange, issue is that some apps (kcalc 15.12) cannot start anymore.
Fifth issue - SDDM start with blank, empty black screen only (in the other thread it's recogized as breeze theme related, too).
Sixth issue - some applications a very long time to starts (i.e. sometime telepathy).
I could send a logs, but help me in this, please (execute kcalc in konsole or even via gdb doesn't get any information).

I downgraded and nearly all my issues disappeared (even the shutdown problem) so it is related to Qt 5.6 and Plasma 5.6 Beta.

The only issue not fixed is the wallpaper thing it seems the beta fucked some config files up nice >_>. Changing the wallpaper does nothing i still have the splash screen as the WP.
Deleting the plasma files in .config didn't fix it anyone any idea?

I am definitly staying away from kde-unstable for now something is seriously messed up with Qt 5.6/Plasma 5.6.

And one more issue (I'm sure that it's Qt5.6RC related) - all my webbrowsers build against of qtwebkit crashed frequently. I rebuild qupzilla on Qt5.6 and it's stable so now.
Another one - telepathy-qt (and I think, that it's also problem with Qt5.6RC) - chat window open with blank screen, after a long time, I can see proper window and type something

@arojas - We have a new simplesystray in Plasma 5.5.95. You've not built it. May I ask why? And... what it is: simplesystray at all?

Works for me though I had to uninstall and recompile the redshift plasmoid to get things working. The Show Desktop plasmoid doesn't work any more, corrupting the panel when it is added. If anyone has problems, I would just uninstall all KDE/Plasma5 related stuff and just try reinstalling it...

It seems that the Qt 5.6 update, plasma starts in aproximately 10 minutes. Also, not all components are started correctly. The dmesg looks clean. Also, updating to 5.6 beta, hasn't changed this behaviour.
Does somebody has a potential lead for this? I've tried the sddm theme switch, but that hasn't done anything.

Additional info:
As repositories I'm using kde-unstable with testing. I'm using mesa with nouveau as my video driver.

On top of the aforementioned issues with sddm I have a strange behaviour with my synaptics touchpad... using two finger scrolls pages blazingly fast, it's not really usable. I tried changing some options but the behaviour stays the same with or without a /etc/X11/xorg.d/50-synaptics.conf. Since it came with 5.6 beta, I assume it comes from it.

Can anyone confirm ?

I'm seeing the slow loading/closing of plasma session too.
Plus, no media widget is loaded, and neither is working the new feature "media control on taskbar icon hovering" .
Related to taskbar, is there a way to install libunity without all the gtk3 deps?
Last, but not least, shouldn't time and date applet calendar show local holidays?

Btw, i'm very curious about new "simplesystray" too, if anyone has any info available...

Now it works.

And about qtwebkit 5.6 based apps (i.e. qupzilla). I've rebuild QupZilla against of QtWebEngine 5.6RC (qupzilla-git) and it works good. So, frequently crashes of QupZilla after upgrade to kde-unstable is related to Qt5.6RC and qtwebkit in it (QupZilla haven't got any dependiences to KDE of course).

I wasn't planning on packaging it since it's only a technical preview, but I will think about it since there seems to be so much interest in it.

To everybody having slow session startup: please post journal logs (specifying at which time the slowdown happens). Also, is this reproducible if you restart plasmashell from inside the Plasma session?
