Crash on resume after suspend

Hi there, I'm enjoying Arch immensely so far!

I've been tackling this problem on two different laptops (Toshiba C660 and MacBook1,1) but can't seem to find a solution anywhere.

The system suspends fine, either through systemctl or closing the lid. However when waking up I can hear the fans and HD spin up and then suddenly cut out and I have to do a hard reset.

I've looked through journalctl and compared before and after the suspend and the last message I get before the reboot is the normal "Suspending system...". This happens in both KDE Plasma and Gnome 3 and as root or as a normal user.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Crash on resume after suspend

I am experiencing the same symptoms, but not sure about the source.

When I am on battery and I resume my laptop from suspend, it freezes. Since a few days, it has been systematic, but does not seem to happen when on AC. The machine is a DELL XPS 13 from 2015 (running Intel Broadwell graphics).

From time to time, If I close and reopen the lid, the machine, wakes up again (meaning that the freeze would be only graphical). But it could also say frozen.

Where did you look in the logs? Maybe we can crosscheck that we have the same issue.

Re: Crash on resume after suspend

I just read the readout of 'journalctl'. My issue happens on AC and Battery power. I've also tried the LTS kernel - no difference.

UPDATE:

I've tried suspending with no display manager/environment running and the same thing happens which should rule out any graphical problem.

Also, having gone through journalctl -b I see this error, don;t know if it could be related:

[drm:intel_cpu_fifo_underrun_irq_handler [i915]] *ERROR* CPU pipe A FIFO underrun

A quick google hasn't revealed anything yet.

I have the exact same issue. Dell XPS 9343 with 4.7.5-1-MANJARO. Happens only on Battery and so far never on AC. Any help would be appreciated. Below is a snippet from journalctl. The only way out of it is to hold down the power button, and ironically it reports this event as "Reboot".

Re: Crash on resume after suspend

Any help? Below are a few things that I have attempted unsuccessfully thus far.
1. Complete wipe out and reinstall.
2. Different Kernels from 4.7.x to 4.6.x to 4.4.x
3. Different WiFi card (Dell 1560, Intel 8260, Intel 7265
4. Various ways to suspend (power key, command line, lock and suspend after 5min, lock, suspend(after 5min) and then hibernate(after 10min).
5. With/Without TLP, Laptop Mode tools

Otherwise I love Arch and all the customizations I can do with XFCE.

Manjaro isn't Arch. Please ask your distro's community; we only support Arch. https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Co … pport_ONLY

Thanks. I will try in the Manjaro forums.
