Hello!
I've got a strange problem with my HP ProBook 450 G1. When it runs with the battery and the charger, everything is working fine. When I unplug the charger it slows down to the point, where switching between virtual desktops takes 5-6 seconds. Then the only thing I can do is to reboot it. Strange thing is, that when it boots up with the charger already unplugged, it works as usual (without any slowdowns). I checked the CPU frequency scaling in both states (when it's in the "turtle" mode and when it's working fine) - it's the same (3100 Mhz). Any ideas what is causing this problem? I'm using i3 WM, so I guess that there are no extra power management modules running in the background.

Sorry for resurrecting such an old post, but I've finally found a solution to my problem. Maybe someone will find this useful. It turned out that the problem was not OS-related. I had to replace my AC adapter. Some HP laptops limit the CPU frequency to 10% if the voltage of the centre pin differs from 5V.
