Hi.
I am affected by this bug https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1298935, which was fixed in gdm-3.18.2-2 package for Fedora 23 and successfully tested by its users https://bodhi.fedoraproject.org/updates … 6f8f961dc4.
This is related bug in Gnome bugtracker: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=754814.
Patch which fixes an issue: https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archive … KXDHDF3S2/.
I have trouble with finding related commits in upstream GDM repo, thus i cant submit a request to update package in Archlinux. Neither this is a bug of Archlinux distro itself.
Please, help me find and bring new GDM version to Arch, i'm not pleased launching gnome with startx each time ![]()

You can always use ABS to build a patched version yourself and try it.
Also gnome and gdm will probably be updated to 3.20 in a week or two.

Finally found a tag, where commits for this patch were partially referenced: 3.19.4.1 - https://mail.gnome.org/archives/commits … 06539.html.
Is it possible to update Arch package to this version, or it isn't stable enough? Visiting gnome.org i can see 3.20 version marked as release at the beginning of this week. Any ideas when we can get it in 'extra' repo?

I'm not that experienced yet. I guess i'll try building after a week or so.

Update releases happen "when they're ready". It's already been built in the gnome-unstable repository.

Are there any good articles on rebuilding gnome packages (for removing unneeded dependencies)? Have been searching the internet (and ABS wiki) for two weeks without success and all attempts to rebuild gnome packages result in:
ERROR: Could not resolve all dependencies.Example, trying to rebuild gnome-shell without bluetooth (to get rid of nuisance bluetooth boot errors in journalctl, my desktop has no bluetooth and don't expect to ever install a bluetooth adapter), same with trying to rebuild NetworkManager. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong, the PKGBUILD lists dependencies but I don't see the string pointing to where it's supposed to get them from, I assumed it would download them from the internet during the build, also, those it halts on are actually already installed. I've rebuilt thunar and xfce4-settings without dependency issues.

WFV, Slaval :
gnome 3.20 packages are now in [testing] repo.
Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.
clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
