xgl problems...

Hello,

I just recently got the fglrx drivers working so I decided to try XGL. I decided to compile it myself, mostly because for whatever reason, xgl-cvs isn't available in shadowhand's repo anymore. Everything compiled and installed fine, but running it is a different story. If I try the GDM way of using XGL, my computer displays a blank screen and locks up. The only way I can get it to not do that, is by ctrl-alting to the first terminal and using the startxgl script there. When I do that though, compiz displays a funny error like this:

compiz: GLX_EXT_texture_from_pixmap is missing
compiz: Failed to manage screen: 0
compiz: No managable screens found on display :1.0

It also complains about fglrx being locked. My graphics card is a radeon all-in-wonder 9800 Pro by the way.

Re: xgl problems...

hmmm...The xgl-cvs package doesn't seem to want to work with pacman as in pacman -S xgl-cvs, but it appears to be at that url you posted. Wierd.

Re: xgl problems...

Yea, I dont know why, but xgl-cvs is not in the shadowhand.db.tar.gz file. Anyway, can just download it and -U the package.

Re: xgl problems...

ok i got it working finally. But now, whenever I try to start any application, it hangs. I tried the schedtool thing and that worked for about 3 minutes, then it hung again. I can sometimes get away with running lighter apps such as gnome-terminal or one of the games included in gnome, but nothing any heavier such as firefox. any suggestions?
