Hello graphic whizzes!
We're starting a partnership with OSDisc where we get a portion of CD sales through them.
Before we start this, though, we'll need a CD Label, and unfortunately the most recent one I have is for 0.7.
http://www.archlinux.org/logos/arch-wombat-cdlabel.png
If anybody has the time and skill, we could really use a CD label for 0.7.2 (Gimmick). OSDisc says the 0.7 one is great, except for a couple things:
If you would like to use your existing label, there are a couple of modifications that should be made to the image: 1) update the version number, and 2) double the distance between the edge of the CD and the lines "An i686 Optimized Linux Distribution" and "www.archlinux.org".
Many thanks to anyone who helps us out. I can barely start up the gimp without going cross-eyed.

I'm a little confused about the wombats though, cause we still have them in the KDE splash screen and wombats are so old.. you know 0.7ish... ;-)

Opened up gimp and made a quick one:

I can send you the gimp file if you want to edit it.

Thanks sputnuk!
Your label is up on the Logos page now.

wow that looks great, excellent work! I really do need to learn gimp a little better.

I see that there is one already, not sure if this one is needed anymore.
Made it in inkscape and I can upload the svg version if someone is interested.
<Edit2>
Removed the previuos edited version which had 3 stripes, remebered why I only made it with 2 stripes from the beginning. I shold never had it changed it. The reason is because I wanted to keep it simple...
BTW updated this version, now it has transparent edges (they are black in the preview).
And since I have shared the other svg versions:

Me too, me too
...and here's a link to the SVG: archlinux-cdlabel.svg
--==EDIT==--
Hmmm, it looks like my University's web server has trouble with SVG files or something. If you want it, let me know and I can send it through different means. I also forgot to make paths out of the font so you don't have to have it on your system for it to look right...
--==EDIT #2==--
Fixed the webserver issues and converted the fonts to paths. Links should be working properly now.

Hey, elasticdog: isn't it supposed to be "distribution" (with an "i"), or did you do that on purpose?
Otherwise, it looks great! 8)

DOH...I'll update in just a sec :oops:

There is something with the colors in the logo which makes the shadow look less nice on other background colors than white. I recreated the first cd-label in inkscape and I fix the shadow. I hope that there are no bad feelings for this since it is not my design. I think it looks much nicer now. And as before, if someone is interested in the svg version I will upload it.
<Edit>
Made a correction: www.linux.org -> www.archlinux.org
How could I miss that?
The black color near the edges in the preview is transparent. Don't know if it should be but I know that I really want it that way and since it wasn't that much extra work to fix, I fixed it.

Man, they're all very nice! Does this mean we can expect Arch CD's in Linux magazines?

Darn, they are all so cute and cuddly O_o
So are people with artistic skills. Cute and cuddly.

Made some corrections. I hope there isn't anymore things to fix.
Since I am in a mod for sharing, here are the svg versions of the 2 latest cd-labels:

The first one that I created needs some more work before I can share it.

I really do like elasticdog's label suggestion. IMO it should win

Very nice matey! The subtle fade on the left side is perfect. I agree that Inkscape is addicting...

Thanks!
I almost did another cd-label, was only playing around with Inkscape... again! Yes, it's addicting, I use to work most of the time in gimp, can't say I do it anymore.
It came to me.... my precious...

I know less about Inkscape than Windows, but that is a nice cover PJ.
It's been fun to see these great images by everyone.

Thanks! I am glad you like it.
I am still in a mod for sharing... guess that feeling will continue as long as I am using free/open-source software.

Very nice. I like how you put the version off to the side like that, nicely positioned. 8) :!:

When I am writing a reply in this thread I could mention that I have made some corrections to the tango icons for arch. Hopefully the versions with errors will be replaced by some corrected versions, but the only thing I can do is hope because it isn't my decision. I think it's sad that it can make some artwork look less appealing.

Those covers are so nice they actually make me want to own a "pressed" CD of Arch. Not only do the contents of the CD own every other CD's, but so will the exterior!

In case you don't know the online comic yet: clicky!
Is it possible to create a CD with several labels of which only one is visble depending on the way you tilt the CD. That would kick ass.
