Re: couldn't open module bitmap and pcidata

Does your /etc/X11/xorg.conf have the right path for the modules directory? Since it looks like your fonts path is wrong, I'm guessing your modules path is wrong as well. If you upgraded to xorg7 from 6.*, you have to make some changes.

yes i upgraded from 6.8 to 7.0! i solved with a

xorgconfig

just now but..in the future..what i have to change if i upgrade from 6 to 7? is not enough run again

hwd -x

to create a new xorg.conf for the new xorrg 7.0?

Re: couldn't open module bitmap and pcidata

I don't know hwd or xorgconfig, I've always used 'X -configure' and worked on from there.

Be sure to read http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg7

Re: couldn't open module bitmap and pcidata

Well, thanks all!
Now after a reboot X won't start..it cames up with this error message:

waiting for X server to shut down FreeFontPath : FPE "/usr/share/fonts/misc:unscaled" refcount is 2, should be 1; fixing.

I did nothing, just entered in my DE, browsed the web, rebooted my machine and when i typed startx it gave me that message..what mean it and how can i solve the problem?
And..doesen't X should start anyway with that error??

Re: couldn't open module bitmap and pcidata

That's not a serious error, I always got that upon shutting down KDE. What else do you get? Look for (EE) in /var/log/Xorg.0.log.
