edit: I flashed to 1.3.3 with success. This time I made sure to match sha256sum and walked away to come back to a successful boot up! hurrah.

BIOS 1.3.3 working fine here. No more black screens on boot! Also tried upgrading to kernel 4.5 at the same time, but that was a no-go. So much flickering. Back on 4.4 now.

Barely related: I don't follow everything in here as closely as I should, and it seems people are finding new kernel param combos all the time. Current setup is "quiet splash pcie_aspm=force i915.enable_rc6=7". Am I missing something essential or using something unnecessary? (Using the FHD version btw).

Since the early rc releases of kernel 4.5 I got a problem with touchpad: sometimes the tap-for-click stops to respond and sometimes even the mouse pointer got stuck. In order to restore its status I have to click on the physical buttons on the lower part. I was in contact with the libinput main developer and, after the analysis of my logs, he said there was some kind of regression in kernel 4.5. I can see this behavior even in the rc1 of upcoming kernel 4.6. What is strange for me is that no one else is reporting this kind of problems on the web. What is different in my setting? All worked well with kernels 4.4.

Until few days ago I used the following extra kernel parameters: pcie_aspm=force i915.enable_rc6=7
Now I removed all: same behavior...

I have similar problems with the touchpad. Tap-to-click stops working, clicking on the left 'button' produces a right-click or middle-click, sometimes I can only use the touchpad to scroll vertically - as if I'm using 2 fingers, clicking (forcefully) on the lower buttons will re-enable the touchpad. Only restarting X will reset it. Also using libinput (1.2.2) and kernel 4.5. If I can supply logs, let me know.

At least I'm not alone... :-)

I don't need logs but time to bisect the kernel from 4.4 to 4.5rc1 (where regression appears).

i stick back with 4.4 and maybe all others in this thread, but when i was on 4.5 i had a simmilar issues..

I can also confirm it happened while I was on 4.5, and the same with my friend. Once we rolled back to 4.4 the touchpad issues became much less of an issue. You can escape it by clicking like mad, multi-touches and not, and moving around, until it goes back to normal behavior.

try tapping once with 3 fingers. that solves it every time for me

speaking about touchpad, anyone succesfully set the multi touch? (pinch, zoom, multi fingers switch...)?
I would be interested to make it work or to know some tips about it..

Using libinput (arch package 'xf86-input-libinput') and Gnome you should get some touchpad and touchscreen gestures (see https://wiki.gnome.org/Design/OS/Gestures).

I got further gestures using libinput-gestures script (see https://github.com/bulletmark/libinput-gestures).

Did you set something special to make it work on your side?

I just installed libinput-gestures, it "just worked" for me on gnome. Did you add yourself to the input group then relog? That's the error I saw when I tried running it before adding myself the the group.

~~kernel 4.6-rc2 includes the gpu hang fix for iris gpus \o/ you can get it from AUR https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-mainline/~~
sorry im blind, its a partial patch
also ive no touchpad issue here (xps 13 2016 / iris, kde, kernel 4.6 thought it was fine on 4.5 )

Most stuff work for me when running 4.6-rc2. However touch screen stops working after suspend.

modprobe -r hid_multitouch && sleep 3 && modprobe hid_multitouch

Gets it working again.

Hi, I am new to arch and I installed it on the 2016 version. I'm getting multiple problems running cinnamon.

The first problem is that if I do anything, then the windows freeze and cinnamon crashes. This has gotten worse since yesterday, which is interesting.

The second problem, which I've seen in other threads but didn't figure out, is that the trackpad I think is treated like a mouse and thus natural scrolling doesn't work. It's also jittery sometimes.
I tried some of the recommended blacklisting, which didn't seem to do anything.

The third and least important problem is that the touch screen often doesn't work after suspend.

Has anybody figured out how to solve these? I mostly care about the first problem since it makes my computer unusable.

You just need to read few posts back, kang said that GPU hangs are no longer an issue since linux-mainline kernel 4.6rc2 (from AUR)

I got the i7 Skylake version with powertop + tlp enabled I am around 9-10w. very difficult to be under 8w for that it happens almost when I am doing nothing and no application is running...
I got 5-6hours of battery life with wireless and normal browsing.

I would expect at least 7-8 hours...what about you guys with the new Skylake version?

and then nothing, I don't see huge difference...
but I am sure I can win 2 more hours at least but I still don't know how..!

This post "solved" the problem for me.

Basicly it involves hooking in to systemd's scripts that run on resume and reload hid_multitouch

If i run a 4.4 kernel the problem does not exist. Only starts when i'm on 4.6-RC2

I installed kernel 4.6-RC2 but it doesn't seem to solve the problem. Maybe this isn't a gpu hang.
