[SOLVED] Teamviewer9 cannot start (PID file not readable)

Hi there,
after some updates my TeamViewer is stop working. I do clean install but still no luck.
If I try to start teamviewer

Init...
Checking setup...
Launching TeamViewer ...

..and I got message about daemon is not working.

Please start the daemon (needs root permissions) before running TeamViewer:
teamviewer --daemon start

After clean install or start system status of service is

● teamviewerd.service - TeamViewer remote control daemon
   Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/teamviewerd.service; enabled; vendor preset: disabled)
   Active: active (running) since Wed 2015-11-18 09:33:56 CET; 6min ago

..but if I restart service status is changed to

I read this thread https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=173022 and try to comment out NetworkManager in service file but problem is still here.
btw restart/stop of service or start of teamviewer takes a long time (2 minutes)

I'll guess which mess you've gotten into. Try this:

sudo systemctl stop teamviewerd.service
sudo killall teamviewerd
sudo rm /opt/teamviewer9/config/global.conf
sudo systemctl start teamviewerd.service

If you first loaded TeamViewer when the service was not running you'll have a global.conf that only works in standalone and causes the service to hang. Stop the service and delete global.conf to reset. Start the service to create a service compatible global.conf.

Did you clean as instructed after the pacman -R remove?

(1/1) removing teamviewer9                                                      [#############################################] 100%
To clean:
Remove ~/.config/teamviewer folders from user home dirs
Remove /opt/teamviewer* folders

Yes I clean both. Therefore I wrote I've done a clean install.

pacman -Rnsc teamviewer9
rm -R ~/.config/teamviewer9
rm -R /opt/teamviewer*

It's my package. It works everywhere I use it including Manjaro with any of the included versions. I just tested 9 and 11. Several patches are included that cover many bugs with Arch Linux.

TeamViewer has logs in /opt/logfiles. You can check them but I found them to be unreadable.

TeamViewer is opaque. Very little debugging information is provided when launching.

TeamViewer uses a different configuration for installed and uninstalled. The configuration is generated on the first run. It is not updated when you change. In my patched version, whether the daemon is loaded or not determines installed or uninstalled. The installed config is generated by the daemon. The uninstalled config is generated by the TeamViewer app. The app will lock if you run with the the wrong configuration. Loading TeamViewer over and over will generate more locked daemon processes.

Example: First Run TeamViewer without daemon loaded. The uninstalled config is generated. Later you run the daemon and try TeamViewer again. Now TeamViewer only locks when it sees the uninstalled config in installed mode.

Complete reinstall instructions.

Disable the daemon: systemctl disable teamviewerd.service
Remove: pacman -R teamviewer9
Clean according to instructions.
Reboot: you could stop and kill all the daemon processes manually but rebooting makes it certain
Install. Do not run TeamViewer.
It's now or never. Decide whether or not to enable and start the daemon: systemctl enable teamviewerd.service; systemctl start teamviewerd.service
Run TeamViewer

If I could find out how to launch the tray icon without showing the TeamViewer app, I'd rewrite their entire launch script, and possibly adapt to the system wine instead of their custom wine. Unfortunately the latest version of Teamviewer 11 (11.0.52520) has disabled the tray icon.
