(SOLVED) MacBook Pro "Santa Rosa" and nvidia

Hello

It is my first post on this forum, so nice to write you and thanks by advance for your help smile

So I am posting because I have a problem with a laptop that I bought ; Macbook Pro 2007 "Santa Rosa", so I changed the HDD and I would to install Archlinux (of course big_smile ). Installation was fine, but when I started my new system, the boot is running, but I finished with a black screen with a little white bar, impossible to switch on tty ...

I tried the nvidia driver and the nouveau one, same issue, I tested too the linux kernel and the lts one, same issue.

I tested a manjaro liveusb : the live is freezing with the private drivers, but it is loading fine with the free drivers : in this case I can use the manjaro live session without problem, so I think it isn't a material problem (macOSx boot fine with the old HDD too).
Also I tried to install a manjaro system, but it was the same issue than the archlinux installation.

Don't have any idea, I searched on the web without success. So can you help me please ? Thanks by advance !

My nvidia card is a 8600M GT (I don't have time yet to give you other informations, I will later).

Re: (SOLVED) MacBook Pro "Santa Rosa" and nvidia

I tried the nvidia one (version 361 I think) but it isn't the good one for my card, si I installed nvidia-340xx and nvidia-340xx-lts when I tested the lts kernel.

Other importante information I think : I think my installation is EFI (I read somethings about EFI installations, I will try after my lesson).
